Mrs. Schultz, Teacher Edition

Posted by on September 1, 2010

Officially started my student teaching yesterday.  I’m supposed to journal about it, so I won’t get too involved here, but I just wanted to update people who were interested.  However, first thing to stick out in my mind is how weird, yet completely natural it is to go by Mrs. Schultz all day.  That used to be my mother-in-law…not me!  🙂

So far, I have enjoyed myself, despite the blisters, extremely early hours (I haven’t been up this early since high school!), and lack of potty breaks.  I love the teachers that I’m working with, the school is great, and the kids are a riot.  That being said, I’m completely pooped by the end of the day.

Oh yeah, and I LOVE our classroom.  It’s just so bright with all the windows, and so inviting.  I love that I’m spending so much of my day in such a happy place.  🙂

Today was the first day back on Wash U’s campus.  It’s weird because you go from being the teacher all day, back to being a student.  It’s hard to switch mindsets.  I like giving the homework much better than getting it!

So, despite the money spent on new shoes, the weight I’m going to put on from lack of time to exercise, plus school lunch, I’m thinking this will be such a great positive experience.  So far, it’s a lot better than my TFA experience ever was!
